Age 35

I am proud of the career I have built as an advocate for injured workers and motor vehicle accident victims throughout South Carolina. Since joining Atkins Law Firm in 2019, I have grown from my experience representing insurance companies and businesses on the defense side to leading a practice focused on helping individuals and families during some of their most difficult moments. My commitment to leadership began long before practicing law. As the first male in my family to attend college, I became a Division I football player and two-year team captain at Presbyterian College before earning my law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. I later served as president of the Matthew J. Perry Chapter of the Black Law Students Association and as national financial secretary of the National Black Law Students Association. Today, I continue serving my alma mater and my professional community through leadership and service organizations including my fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. My long-term goal is to expand my community impact by mentoring young lawyers and students and helping others reach opportunities they may not have thought possible.

Favorite Quote and Why: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11. This verse has always been a constant reminder to me that I am never alone. Throughout my journey, there have been moments when I did not know exactly what the next step would be, but I trusted that there was a greater plan. It reminds me to keep moving forward, remain grounded, and have faith in the path ahead.

Definition of a Successful Leader: To me, a successful leader is someone who knows how to lead but also understands the importance of being led. Leadership is not about always having the answers or being the person in charge. It is about being willing to listen, learn from others, accept advice, and recognize that you can grow from the people around you. I believe the best leaders lead by example while remaining humble enough to take direction when needed.

Advice to 18-Year-Old Self: Life is not a sprint; it is a marathon. No matter what roadblocks come your way, take life one day at a time. You do not have to have everything figured out at once. Trust the process, keep moving forward, and understand that every challenge is part of the journey.
