I am a Premier Relationship Banker with First Citizens Bank providing clients with a concierge financial experience in the Columbia Metropolitan area. My desire to pursue a career in finance was driven by my grandfather, Jack Graybill, who was a stockbroker and advisor to many in the community. Prior to my career in finance, I had an eight-year stint in the international defense industry.
In my free time, I can be found outdoors or cooking. My mom is a phenomenal cook, and I like to think that I gained a bit of that ability from her! Recently, I have invested in a smoker and that has led to many different foods being smoked and has opened up a new world of opportunity.
Columbia is and will always be my home. I aspire to see it continue to grow and become a beacon of this great state. I actively engage in the community through societies like YLS and Contemporaries. Giving back to the community is one of the most important things we can do as we should always try to make our homes a little better each day. In the long term, I plan to continue my career in the financial industry and remain active in the community. I also plan to pursue a role in local government in the future.
Quote: “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” – Ernest Hemmingway
This is a principle I aim to live by every day. The only person you need to surpass is the one you were yesterday. Strive each day to improve just a little, and if you have a goal, take one extra step toward it tomorrow.
What makes a good leader?: A good leader is not always going to be someone in a position of authority. A good leader is someone who inspires others to grow while maintaining core values. A few of these core values come from being a Sigma Nu at Presbyterian College – Love, Honor, and Truth.
Love – Brotherhood, support and care for others, and compassion
Honor – Integrity, accountability, character and ethics
Truth – Remaining honest to yourself and others, seeking understanding and growth, and living with authenticity.
Advice to my 18-year-old self: Enjoy life but try to study a little bit more. Try new experiences and let your comfort zone be pushed. You never know when you’ll find something that you never would have expected to enjoy!
