William "Billy" Newsome

Billy Newsome, founder and principal of Newsome Law in Columbia, is an estate planning attorney whose expertise in trusts, estates, taxation, and nonprofit compliance has safeguarded legacies for high-net-worth individuals and organizations across South Carolina for over three decades. Newsome is certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the South Carolina Supreme Court and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He has litigated complex fiduciary disputes, crafted multimillion-dollar succession plans, and guided tax-exempt entities through regulatory challenges. He is an adjunct professor at USC Law and was chair of the South Carolina Bar's Probate, Estate Planning and Trust Section Council in 2023 and 2024.
