Cheryl Holland founded Abacus Planning Group in 1998 and has grown the company into a wealth planning and investment management firm that manages more than $2 billion on behalf of its clients. Holland, a graduate of Bryn Mawr College, is chair of the Clemson University Foundation and Together Women Rise, and she serves on the boards of the United Way of the Midlands, Midlands Technical Foundation, and Special Olympics of South Carolina. She also has served on the Bryn Mawr College Board of Trustees and the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle for the South Carolina Midlands. Holland said her long-term goals “synch with her service to the Midlands and her clients and is Abacus's vision to create, live in and celebrate abundance with Abacus clients, our community, and the Abacus team.” Asked about a Midlands partnership she helped to drive during 2025, Holland said, “As co-chair of the United Way's extraordinarily successful $20 million campaign to impact generational change in the Midlands, I learned that the Midlands is capable of coming together for visionary success. I am now chair of the United Way Revenue Committee seeking ways to broaden our partners in delivering on this promise for a thriving Columbia.”
