Amick Farms Expanding in Edgefield County

Amick Farms, a poultry processor in Batesburg, announced that it is expanding its South Carolina footprint with a new operation in Edgefield County. The company’s $54.78 million investment will create 40 jobs.

Founded in 1941, Amick Farms is a fully integrated operation with hatcheries, feed mills, and processing facilities providing a variety of chicken products for retail, food service, and industrial use. The company has four existing complexes: two in Saluda County, one in Laurel, Mississippi, and one in Hurlock, Maryland.

Amick Farms’ new hatchery, located in Trenton, will have the capacity to hatch over 1.5 million eggs, supporting the growth of the company’s South Carolina poultry processing operations. Operations are expected to be online in April of 2027.

“Poultry is South Carolina’s highest value agricultural product, and Amick Farms is a leader in the industry," said South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers. "Their expansion supports a broad swath of our agribusiness community, from corn and soybean growers to equipment manufacturers to the farmers who raise chickens. I’m proud of this homegrown company’s continued success.”

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $1 million Set-Aside grant to Edgefield County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction. Individuals interested in joining the Amick Farms team should visit the company’s careers page.
