John Gressette, Danny Bonds and Rox Pollard III of Colliers | South Carolina represented the landlord, Cason Development, in the lease of a 1,770-square-foot suite at Forest Village, 4525 Forest Drive in Columbia, South Carolina, to The Briar Patch.
Officials with the Briar Patch, a children’s boutique, said the store is an elevated retail destination for charming, curated clothing and lifestyle goods for little ones. Nestled in the heart of Forest Acres, The Briar Patch promises to bring a refined, storybook shopping experience for families who value quality and style.
Founded by Laura Richards, a Columbia native whose passion for dressing children stemmed from her own experience as a mom of three, The Briar Patch was inspired by the nostalgic whimsy of childhood. Officials also said the boutique will feature a carefully edited selection of high-end children’s apparel, accessories and gifts from beloved and emerging brands, including The Beaufort Bonnett Company, for which it is an official retailer. Richards describes the vision as “a modern-day mercantile meets garden party,” blending timeless elegance with playful touches that engage both children and their grown-ups.
“I wanted to create a space that feels like home, yet sparks wonder,” said Richards. “I hope to create a space that feels both magical and elevated, where every detail — from the wallpaper to the window displays — invites children and parents to linger, play and explore.”
Designed with a fresh, traditional aesthetic, the store will also include thoughtful amenities such as a children’s reading nook and a play-friendly area to make shopping enjoyable for the whole family.
The Briar Patch is slated to open its doors in January 2026 at Forest Village. Customers are encouraged to follow along on Instagram (@shopthe iarpatch) for behind-the-scenes updates, new arrivals, style inspiration and updates on events.
Gressette, Bonds and Pollard III are part of Colliers' Retail Services Team in Columbia, specializing in the sale, leasing and development consultation of retail properties of all sizes across South Carolina.
