Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity announces the appointment of Moryah Jackson as its new Executive Director. Jackson brings an extensive background in banking, workforce development, and higher education, along with a lifelong commitment to civic engagement.
Jackson most recently served as Senior Vice President of Community Development and Engagement at one of the Southeast’s largest financial institutions. In that role, she led the creation of a $10 million corporate foundation and directed community impact initiatives across six states. She now brings that experience to lead Central South Carolina Habitat’s mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties.
“Our board is excited to welcome Moryah as our new Executive Director,” said William Jeter, Board Chair of Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity. “Her proven record of strategic leadership and a passion for building stronger communities make her the right leader for our next chapter.”
Her leadership comes at a critical time. According to recent data, the average renter income in South Carolina is approximately 40% lower than what is needed to afford a median-priced home—highlighting the need for innovative, community-centered housing solutions. Jackson’s connection to the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity began when she was a student at Ridge View High School and volunteered on her first build. That early experience sparked a lasting passion for the organization’s mission. In 2021, she launched a multi-state Habitat initiative through her corporate role—further demonstrating her belief in the power of partnership and the importance of homeownership.
“I am deeply committed to Habitat’s mission of ensuring everyone has access to safe, affordable housing,” said Jackson. “A stable home doesn’t just transform individual lives—it lays the foundation for strong communities and resilient local economies. I’m honored to help lead this work across the Midlands and invite you to be part of it. Whether you volunteer, donate, or help spread the word, you can help build a community where all of our neighbors have the opportunity to thrive.”
Jackson, a first-generation college graduate, earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Columbia College. Her academic achievements are complemented by a commitment to leadership and professional development. She is a graduate of the SC Bankers School, the SC Economic Development Institute, and the SC Technical College System Leadership Academy. She is also a Riley Fellow through Furman University’s Diversity Leaders Initiative and a SC Education Policy Fellow.
Jackson was named a “20 Under 40” honoree by The State newspaper and a “Woman of Influence” by the GSA Business Report.
As Executive Director, Jackson will also provide strategic leadership for the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 2814 Augusta Highway, West Columbia, SC 29169 —a social enterprise that funds local homebuilding while promoting sustainability by keeping quality furniture, home goods, and building materials out of landfills. All proceeds from the ReStore stay right here in Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties to support local affordable housing efforts.
